It's time once again for mice and nutcrackers, the sugar plum fairy and Clara ...enjoy excerpts from Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker" and a variety of lively folk dances.

Celebrate the beginning of the 2005 holiday season with a performance of "Winter Carnival" by the Brighton Ballet Theater.

The performance will take place on Sunday, November 27 at 2 p.m. in the Seelig Theatre of Sullivan County Community College, Loch Sheldrake.

The Brighton Ballet Company is the premiere Russian ballet and folk dance group in New York City. Founded in 1987 in order to preserve and share the rich historical traditions of Russian dance in New York, the Brighton Ballet Theater has also grown into the only presenter of new choreography by emerging Russian choreographers in the United States.

Company dancers are all graduates and former soloists from the best dance theaters of the former Soviet Union - St. Petersburg Kirov Ballet, Moscow's Classical Ballet, Bolshoi Theater, Ukrainian State Theater of Classical Ballet and the Odessa Opera and Ballet Theater - who seek to share their impeccable training and love for dance on the stages of New York.

In Brighton Ballet Theater's short existence, the company has already performed at Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Tribeca Theater, Madison Square Garden and many more throughout the tri-state area.

As the sole representative of Russian dance in New York, Brighton Ballet Theater is often invited to perform at special events such as the Opening of the Faberge Collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Beautiful dancing and great costumes - "Winter Carnival" - a great show for the whole family - Sunday, November 27, 2 p.m., Sullivan County Community College.

Tickets are $12 for general admission, $10 for senior citizens and SCCC staff and $5 for students.

For advance ticket reservations, call the SCCC box office at 434-5750, ext. 4303 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
